Portugal Telecom announces the upgrade and renewal of its IPTV service - SAPO at MEO - designed and deployed by emuse.
05/08/09 - Portugal Telecom's IPTV platform Meo recently renewed and upgraded its innovative TV portal service - SAPO at MEO. This new version was designed and built with the combined expertise of world leading IPTV development company emuse and Sapo, the leading internet portal in Portugal, also owned by Portugal Telecom. The new version of the service appeared on TV screens in July.

Sapo (www.sapo.pt) worked closely with emuse to develop an innovative, customised TV application on Meo's IPTV platform. This application is prepared to receive SAPO Portal live web feeds and deliver useful information to Meo subscribers in an interactive TV area brand Sapo at MEO..

SAPO at MEO provides news as well as geo-referenced information such as, weather, traffic, the nearest available amenities with maps and other relevant information. National and International content are also featured.

This upgrading effort was mainly focussed on optimising usability and performance whilst providing the maximum amount of information within an intuitive and simple user interface.

"Working with Portugal Telecom again on their latest IPTV project is an excellent opportunity for us to further hone our IPTV expertise" said Dominic Laval, Director Emerging Markets, emuse. "The SAPO at MEO service is data rich and user friendly along with offering quick and efficient response times, these facilities are key to providing a successful service on an IPTV platform so emuse and Portugal Telecom have joined forces to put together this latest compelling application" he concludes.

Vera Pinto Pereira, Director of TV Services at Portugal Telecom adds: "Meo has redefined the concept of watching TV in Portugal, introducing new and innovative services, such as pause live TV, recordings, TV guide, etc. Working with emuse, is an excellent opportunity to continuously differentiate ourselves from our competitors throughout innovative, user friendly and useful applications like the SAPO at MEO service"
