Patrick Rainsford, a serial entrepreneur, is currently the CEO and founder of emuse Corporation Limited where he invented the patent that underpins the company technology.
Patrick is also a Director and founder of Xsil Corporation Ltd. Xsil is a world-leading provider of innovative laser micro-machining systems. Independently Patrick has invested in a number of successful technology companies such as i-rights, Siren, several others in the interactive television space (with whom he also holds board positions) and with companies such as MV Technology Ltd which was sold for in excess of 100 million euro to Agilent Technologies in 2001.
Since 1986 Patrick and his business partner Peter Conlon founded and developed a number of successful technology companies including Lightband Communications which became a world leader in the manufacture of high bandwidth colour video switching and distribution systems for the global dealing room market. Its systems were installed in some of the world's largest dealing rooms, including, inter alia, Morgan Guaranty World Headquarters, New York; Commerz Bank, New York; Swiss Banking Corporation, London/New York; Toronto Dominion, Lehman Bros., New York and Bank of New South Wales, Australia.
Patrick was an electronics engineer in the BBC (London) and a senior lecturer in the Dublin Institute of Technology before leaving to co-found the aforementioned technology companies based on his own patents and designs.
Patrick is a member of the Institute of Engineers, and he is also a member of the Institute of Directors in London. He holds a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering (Honours) degree from University College Dublin where he was subsequently a senior researcher specialising in CATV, satellite and fibre-optic systems.
