The emuse^® Viewer Measurement (VM) product is a scaleable television measurement system designed to make complex metering information collected from set top boxes available in a uniform and easily accessible way. emuse VM can be used to measure very granular linear broadcast, VOD, PVR and interactive service viewing data for platform operators (IPTV, Direct-to-Home and Digital Cable) as well as for online publishers and for mobile operators.

emuse VM gives operators the ability to review detailed and accurate analysis of programming and advertising information in a timely manner to support overall business objectives. This is achieved by gathering viewing data directly from the universe of set top boxes connected to the operator network and consolidating this data into a single data warehouse in the cloud. emuse VM then runs sophisticated data algorithms within the data warehouse to produce dynamic and customised reports for operator stakeholders with very short processing leadtimes.

emuse VM can be used by platform operators to support and strategically enhance several key internal business functions including:

	Content Acquisition (real viewing data used to accurately price content acquisitions and as leverage in content renegotiations)
	Advertising Sales (real ad viewing/skipping and PVR data used to re-price ad inventory and potentially establish new trading metrics)
	Channel Management (dynamic viewing data to change scheduling solus or in comparison to competing network shows)
	Channel Operations (real viewing data used as leverage in channel line-up selection and in carriage negotiations)

Finally data collected and analysed by emuse VM can sold in a highly customised but anonymised form by the platform operator to content owners and broadcasters, advertisers, third party agencies or external research companies.

emuse VM is currently collecting data at one second granularity from 5 million set top boxes and 4,000 broadcast channels. This reach requires emuse VM to process approximately 25 terabytes of viewing data and make 60 billion new data warehouse insertions annually.
